April 2020- New Legion Park Daffodil display- Love the new daffodils at public spaces around our town.
During the fall the Portsmouth Garden club donated some money for daffodils to the "Newport in Bloom" event when they held that "Daffodil Give Away" drive. Also, at the end of the Newport drive they donated to the club numerous leftover daffodils. The civic beatification committee, headed by Janet Shake, and made up of member-volunteers, planted over 300 bulbs at Legion Park and also some new perennial flowers from an anonymous donor. Now they are blooming in an “embarrassment of daffodils” a term coined by the late garden author, Marion Cran.
Photos show Legion Park, the Church garden and the Public Library entryway garden.
